The artists Andrea Bowers (*1965) and Mary Weatherford (*1963) live and work in Los Angeles and are showing their first joint exhibition at the Capitain Petzel Gallery until 19 August.
Both artistic positions are in the tradition of women's storytelling. While Bowers incorporates the narratives of activists and political movements into her work, Weatherford takes an autobiographical approach. In the exhibition, she presents two new groups of works based on her observations of nature, which bear witness to her encounters with dawn, light at night and shadow. Bowers shows three neon works in the exhibition.
