Steffi-Babett Wartenberg lives and works as a visual artist in Weimar (Germany). Her artistic practice is a constant journey, developing an abstract language through line, form and colour that expresses both her individual perspective and universal human experiences. The black line in particular is her favourite stylistic device in her implementation of ideas. Growing up in a strictly monitored and segregated place in the former GDR, the experiences of her childhood and youth are reflected in her artistic work. This background forms the foundation for her exploration of themes such as spatial limitation, the meaning of freedom and the interactions of action and reaction.
