Filip Sabol was born in Bratislava, Slovakia in 1989. He still lives and works in his wonderful home town. Sabol grew up in graffiti community in 00s years. From 2004 to 2009 he studied animation at High school of scenic arts in Bratislava. After that he studied painting at Academy of fine arts and design, Bratislava.
Since when do you paint and what are your favorite motives?
I’ve been painting since childhood and I don’t stop. My work balances on the edge between symbolism and geometric abstraction, between the ease of poetic meaning and the shape diction of form.
When you create a new work, how do you proceed? What comes first?
At first there is an idea, a suggestion, I use to capture it as a sketch or develop it directly to painting. I work intuitively, led by the heart, it is important to feel the process to know the next appropriate steps.
From what do you get your motivation?
I get my motivation from the connection with my higher self.
Your life without art would be...
…empty. The way I live my life is an artwork.
What's the best art venue in your city right now?
Nowadays the best art place in my city is Slovak National Gallery with its beautiful renovated building or Bratislava City Gallery.
