Anca Todrican (born 1985 in Romania) is a self-taught artist who lives and works in Rome, Italy. She uses acrylic paints to create abstract and semi-abstract works. How did you get into art?

From an early age I began to manifest a passion for drawing and painting. In 2004 as soon as I finished my studies I moved to Rome where I began an artistic collaboration in an art studio, thus perfecting my technical skills. In recent years I have turned my passion into a real job that I do in my studio in Rome.

How would you describe your style? What makes your work special?

My works are made with brush and palette knife, favoring acrylic, sometimes replaced by oil. Some abstract paintings are generated by a creative impulse, spontaneous, expressive, emotional. Instead, in some, my skills encroach on a pictorial poetics in which abstract backgrounds serve as a narrative frame to the figurative rendering of a floral matrix, creating a garden of emotions on canvas. How do you go about developing your work?

I love to paint in my studio, setting the right music in the background. Music relaxes me, makes me dream, makes me have a deep connection with my colors, with my canvas.Who or what influences you?

My sources of inspiration are different. What I feel when I'm sad, when I'm happy, I convey it on my canvas. So often it is my inner state that decides. Another very rich source of inspiration is nature.

Make us curious. What are you planning to do next?

My next plans include working with large formats is to participate in art competitions and exhibitions.Learn more about the artist:
