Maja Delschen (born 1978) is a trained ceramic painter and studied social pedagogy. She lives near Cologne and loves to let off steam with acrylic paint on canvas.
How did you get into art?
My sister, who is 7 years older than me, infected me with her passion for art. Painted a lot as a teenager until my mid-twenties and then put my focus on social pedagogy. In January 2023, it has completely grabbed me by a single picture and I can not since then without the paint.
How would you describe your style? What makes your work special?
I paint exclusively abstract, preferably with acrylic and putty and have, except for the colors, no concrete ideas in advance, how the picture should look. I like to experiment when painting and give myself completely to my feeling and my intuition. I love fresh colors!
How do you go about developing your work?
Meanwhile, I work on a picture 3 to 4 days. It is important for me to have no pressure and to be able to create the process freely and full of passion. Art means for me in the process complete freedom, happiness, passion and mentally from the rest of the world to take a time out.
Who or what influences you?
2-3 artists have awakened my interest and curiosity to devote myself to art again. Otherwise, it was and is very important to me to remain true to myself in my style. Abstract art and abstract artists I prefer to follow.
Make us curious. What are you planning to do next?
Since I have only started painting again since January 2023, I still want to paint many unplanned pictures and try out techniques and colors. However, I plan to offer my paintings for sale during the year.
