Yves Lappert (born 1974) works in Lausanne, Switzerland. He attended the following art schools: ENSAV, La Cambre, Brussels, Belgium and ECAL, Lausanne, Switzerland.
How did you get into art?
I painting since childhood, discovering COBRA movement as a teenager, then artschools cursus.
How would you describe your style? What makes your work special?
My style near minimalism, streetart and abstraction. I trying to fix the impermanence (life, sun, thoughts).
How do you go about developing your work?
Starting with a woodenstick leaning against a wall lit by light (or sun).
Who or what influences you?
Dan Flavin, Carl Andre, Tadao Ando, Roman Signer, Erwin Wurm, John Mc Cracken, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe...
Interested in taming the shadows / also finding a balance between physical and non-physical.
Make us curious. What are you planning to do next?
I don’t plane much. I let life run and I try to taste short moments in it and try to fix it with assemblages and small minimal actions with different mediums such as photography, videos and performances.
