Gloria Feijóo is a Spanish artist born in Santa Cruz de Tenerife (Canary Islands), but raised in the city of Seville where she currently lives and works. She is a self-taught artist, influenced by her sociocultural experiences acquired mainly during his residence in Italy and New York as well as numerous trips. How did you get into art?
Since I was little I have been absolutely obsessed with colors. I have always looked for them in everything I have done, travel, clothing, decoration.... At the age of 22 I went to live in Italy and later in New York, dedicating a large part of my time in both places to training, visiting art galleries and introduce myself to urban art with local artists.
Despite my great passion, I never thought it could be something I focused on professionally, and I chose to study law, practicing for years as a lawyer.
A little over a year ago, everything around me told me that I had to show others all that passion that I had inside and that remained hidden within me. And I began to publish my paintings on social networks (Instagram) and to paint and paint and express myself without restraint. That's how I did it and that's how I will continue to do it forever and ever.
How would you describe your style? What makes your art special?
My art is pure energy and color. It is pure passion and shows a state of constant positivity.
What makes it special is the fact that it is an authentic feeling that only my soul directs. That's what's special: my art is guided by my soul. My soul is what paints and people perceive it.How do you go about developing your work?
I always work with acrylic and spray, I almost always use neon and fluorescent colors. I don’t need to confess that love pink, its obvious!
When I paint I always listen to music and I just let myself go... I´m always trying to experiment with new styles, materials, color combinations and, finally, new paths. Im always exploring. My soul is very curious and I need to enrich it.Who or what influences you?
Absolutely by the sea, the beach, the sun, the sound of the waves and the wind. The flowers. The pure air. Nature. Music. Freedom. The beauty in general.
What are you planning to do next?
If I tell you the truth, I never plan anything, I simply wait for the plans to come to me.
I don't know what will be next! but for now I am concentrating on the commissions that I have pending and on several projects that I have already closed: currently I have just closed my contract with two art galleries to introduce my paintings to the international market, specifically Asia and the Middle East; I have also just closed my collaboration with an American company that designs Persian rugs, I have planned my "solo exhibition" in my city, Seville, for a few months…….So I don't stop! I hope that what comes next surprises us all!Instagram
