Tavora Fleur was born in Offenbach in 1980 and now lives alternately in Berlin and Miltenberg. Although she has always loved art, she only started painting during a difficult phase in her life - and discovered her passion in the process. Her works are abstract, intuitive and emotional and tell stories of inner strength and change. With her art, she not only wants to touch people, but also create spaces for reflection and new perspectives.
How did you get into art?
I have always been passionate about art, but for a long time I convinced myself that I had no talent for it. It wasn't until I was going through a difficult phase in my life and struggling with panic attacks that I discovered painting for myself. At first, it was just a way of letting out my feelings and distracting myself. Over time, however, it has become much more - a real passion that gives me stability and allows me to deal with myself in a new way.
How would you describe your style? What makes your work special?
My style is very intuitive, abstract and full of emotion. Every line, every colour tells something about me or about what moves me. What makes my work special is the mixture of spontaneous creativity and conscious reflection. They invite you to take a closer look and discover your own thoughts and feelings in them.
How do you go about developing your work?
I let myself be completely guided by the moment. I usually start with a colour that appeals to me or a texture that fascinates me, and then the picture almost creates itself. I work layer by layer, allowing for mistakes and coincidences and seeing where the process takes me. It's always an interplay of control and letting go.
Who or what influences you?
My biggest inspiration are emotions - my own, but also those I perceive in others. Nature also plays a big role for me, as does the atmosphere and energy of cities. And of course my family and friends have also influenced me. But it's often small, everyday moments that make me pick up brush and paint.
Make us curious. What are you planning to do next?
I am currently working on a series that deals with the topic of ‘courage to change’ - something that is very close to my heart.
