With the last group show of the year, the New & Abstract Showroom has a special highlight in the program. As the first guest curator, Marco Wachsmuth will be creating the new ‘New Perspectives’ section and presenting eight artists. In this way, we want to enrich our concept of presenting new and abstract art and expand the concept of abstraction through this new perspective on contemporary art.
In addition, seven New & Abstract artists will be presented.
Wednesdays to Saturdays 2 - 6 pm and by appointment
New & Abstract Showroom | Mollstraße 1, Berlin
More about the artists:
Martin Bauer
In his work, Martin Bauer explores the dynamics between physical fragmentation, body configuration and the potential loss of identity. Through the use of abstract forms, certain colors and textures, the images show how the body is in a continuous metamorphosis, dissolving its boundaries and taking on new configurations. The dissolution of figurative elements into the abstract surface is an essential part of expressing his art.
Christina Gschwantner
Christina Gschwantners artistic methodology is based on a reconfiguration of form, a metamorphosis of the visible, a process of interpretation and an approach of continual variation. For her this playful way of working, is far more than a pictorial strategy.
Itamar Heifetz
Itamar Heifetz is an Israeli artist specializing in painting and typography. His work is known for bold colors, expressive brushstrokes, and a dynamic interplay of abstract, surreal, and dreamlike elements. Heifetz incorporates handmade typography with calligraphic and experimental lettering, giving his pieces a unique symbolic depth.
Tanmay Kaushik Parashar
Tanmay Kaushik Parashar was born in Varanasi, India in 1979. He is a self-taught abstract expressionist on a mission to ignite passion for colours. A distinct aspect of his practice is use of a credit card. All lines on all the pieces are made using the edge of a credit card, one colored dab at a time. These pieces can have up to 60,000 individual dabs and can take a few weeks to complete.
Margret Trimborn
Margret Trimborn's abstract work includes large-format, dynamic, expressive and colour-intensive multi-part works on canvas as well as delicate, often monochrome small formats on paper using printing techniques such as monotype. The different formats and painting grounds in particular reflect the emotionality and intuition of the artist in her creative process. She therefore succeeds in mastering the balancing act between the different techniques with playful ease.
Peter Vahlefeld
Peter Vahlefeld’s work has always been about the intricacies of transformation. He describes his paintings as reflecting the ways in which we perceive an oversaturated mass media reality. He uses printed matter as key components of his canvases and juxtaposes them with savage scenarios constructed by oil paint. The work conveys a certain tension between the plasticity of paint and the flatness of prints, held together by shiny, glossy or matte mediums. Keyed-up color and almost gridlike compositions point to the readability, immediacy, and graphic presence of our popular culture. By concentrating more on process rather than subject matter, the act of painting becomes Vahlefeld’s primary focus.
Steffi-Babett Wartenberg
Steffi-Babett Wartenberg lives and works as a visual artist in Weimar (Germany). Her artistic practice is a constant journey, developing an abstract language through line, form and colour that expresses both her individual perspective and universal human experiences. The black line in particular is her favourite stylistic device in her implementation of ideas. Welcome to her world of abstract representation - a space where history, emotion and ideas flow together to create a visual language of reflection.
